Double digits was again the outcome for an Adrian opponent on Saturday as the Bulldogs hung 11 goals on Concordia (Wis.) in a 11-2 victory which ran the fourth-ranked team's record to 10-0, 8-0 MCHA. The Bulldogs have now won 42 straight regular-season MCHA games.
Eric Miller and Joel Workman scored in the first period to give Adrian a 2-0 lead. Miller scored at 5:04 at even strength with assists from Zach Graham and Shawn Skelly. Workman scored at 15:30 at even strength with assists from Jeff Young and Mike Towns.
The Bulldogs notched five goals in the middle period as Concordia scored their two goals in the second. Adrian built their lead to 7-0 before CUW scored twice in the final three minutes of the stanza. Kyle Frieday scored at 1:30 at even strength with assists from Andrew Dovey and Kyle Watson. Brad Houston scored 25 seconds later at even strength with an assist from Sam Kuyzk. Kyle Crawford scored his second on the season at 6:46 on the power play with assists from Jeremy Klaver and Graham to make it 5-0.
Graham scored his first of the afternoon at 7:21 at even strength with assists from Miller and Klaver. Kuzyk scored at 12:56 at even strength with assists from Houston and Mike Dahlinger to build their 7-0 advantage. Joseph Greg Douglas and Jonathan Smith scored even strength goals for the Falcons to make it 7-2 after 40 minutes.
Towns scored the first two goals of the third at 9:03 and 9:27 at even strength to make it 9-2. Young had an assist on both goals while Zach Galia got his first point with an assist on the first goal of the period. Workman also had an assist on the second goal of the period. Houston scored at 10:30 at even strength with assists from Kuzyk and Dahlinger. Chris Stansik finished off the scoring at 14:36 on a short-handed goal with assists from Frieday and Young. Young's three assists were a career-high for the freshman.
Adrian outshot Concordia, 61-27, as Brad Fogal made 23 saves and improved to 10-0 in net this season. He made nine saves in the first, eight more in the second and six in the third before being lifted for Marc Stuart. Stuart played the final 9:30 and made a pair of saves. Adrian has now won 36 straight games dating back to last season and needs two more wins to tie the NCAA Division III record for consecutive wins. The team has a break for the holidays and will hit the road for a big non-conference series at Hamline on Jan. 1 and 2.
