ADRIAN, Mich. - The baseball team picked up another pair of wins against Alma on Tuesday completing a four-game sweep of the Scots. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Alma but Klenk Park was unplayable moving the final two games of the season series to Nicolay Field.

Adrian took full advantage of the home-field shift winning 10-8 in game one and then posting an 8-3 win in game two. The first game seemed like a forgone conclusion as Adrian took a 10-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Alma had a monster seven-run inning and cut the lead to two but left runners the tying runs on base. Josh Lancaster had been cruising along but the Scots scored five runs off the righthander and chased him off the mound. Lancaster did however pick up the win his first of the season. He went five innings and did strike out four with just one walk. Tim Parent threw 0.2 innings and allowed two earned runs. Nick Vandike allowed two hits coming into the game with two outs in the sixth. He gave up a hit in the inning but calmed down in the seventh to earn his first save of the year with two punchouts.

Andrew Anderson and Brian Bilius had fantastic games for the Bulldogs. Anderson did damage from the ninth spot in the lineup going 5-for-5 in the two games with four RBI's. Anderson went 3-for-3 with his second double in game one and then went 2-for-2 with three RBI's and a sacrifice fly in game two. Bilius had his first triple and home run of the year in game one. He ended the game 3-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored. Bilius went 1-for-3 with an RBI and was hit by a pitch in game two.

Adrian (10-7, 5-1 MIAA) served as the visiting team in both contests due to the first two games of the series also being in Adrian. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first and one more in the second to take an early 3-0 lead in game two. Alma answered with two runs off starter Don Schmelter in the third. Adrian scored three more runs in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. Alma cut the lead to 6-3 with a run in the fourth but Adrian added two more runs in the seventh as a cushion. Alma left the bases loaded in the sixth as Dan Welch worked out of a jam against Alma's leading power hitter Jeremy Stephens.

Welch threw two relief innings and allowed four hits with two strikeouts. Welch has a 2.70 ERA in seven appearances this season. Schmelter recorded the win (1-2) going four innings and allowing three earned runs with a strikeout. Adrian's three pitchers did not allow a walk in game two. Todd Meyers had a pair of hits in game two with a run scored. He is hitting .435 this season. Nate Sarkissian had a triple and single in four at-bats with two runs scored in the nightcap.
