Nine Pitchers Control Saints' Bats in 6-1 Win over Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College pitchers had a busy afternoon as the merry-go-round on the rubber saw nine different guys hurl one inning in a 6-1 triumph over crosstown rival Siena Heights. Matt Tuttle (1-0) threw the first inning and walked one but faced just three batters after he enduced a double play groundout. Adrian scored four times in the bottom of the first as Todd Meyers singled up the middle to start the inning. Andrew Anderson doubled down the left field line to plate Meyers with the first run. Later in the inning, Nate Sarkissian had a two-RBI single to center to make it 3-0. Steve Vanderheyden's RBI single to left scoring Jake Cappelletty made it 4-0.

Adrian scored a run in the third after Sarkissian hit a ground-rule double to right center and later scored on a Ben Muer infield single. The Bulldogs last run came in the fourth after Anderson reached on a fielding error and was bunted over to second by Alex Cowart. Brian Bilius had an RBI groundout to shortstop scoring Anderson.

Siena Heights used five pitchers and Chris Boertje got the loss as the starter. He went three innings and fell to 2-4 on the mound. Adrian fanned five times as Boertje had three to go with two walks and eight hits allowed. For Adrian, Sean Hartman, Adam Stone, Craig Steadman, Dan Welch and Nick Vandike each allowed one hit. Welch, Jason Fryman and VanDike also each had one strikeout.
