Bulldogs Score Three in Seventh for 8-7 Game Two Win to Complete Sweep of Olivet

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College baseball team worked its magic in the bottom of the seventh in game two to pull out an 8-7 win against Olivet after winning 6-1 in game one to improve to 29-9 overall and 23-3 in the MIAA.

The Bulldogs are fighting for a higher seed in the upcoming NCAA Mideast Regional after winning the conference title back on Monday. Adrian gave up four runs in the top of the seventh in game two and trailed 7-5 going into the bottom half of the inning. Nate Sarkissian drew a walk to start the inning and one batter later Steve Vanderheyden also drew a walk with one out. Brian Bilius stepped up with a ground-rule double to left which scored Sarkissian and sent Vanderheyden to third making it 7-6. Freshman Kyle Strawn had the biggest hit of his career thus far with a bloop single to center which scored two for the game-winning RBI's.

Alex Webster got a no-decision going 6.2 innings and allowing seven hits. He also allowed four earned runs with one walk and two strikeouts. Aaron Campbell (0-1) took the loss facing two batters in the seventh for Olivet. Adrian had five doubles and a triple in game two collecting a total of 11 hits off five Olivet hurlers. Vanderheyden was 2-for-3 with a walk and catcher Joe Dubina went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a double.

AC won 6-1 in game one behind Ryan Domschot's 10th win of the season which set the school record for a season. The southpaw from Toledo struck out eight and did not walk a batter. He now has 81 strikeouts on the year. He threw seven innings and allowed four hits with no earned runs.

Dubina hit his first collegiate home run to give Adrian a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Adrian added two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to support Domschot. Andrew Anderson had a good game going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the sixth. Alex Cowart and Sarkissian also had an RBI in game one.

Olivet and Adrian will conclude the regular season with a twinbill tomorrow at Olivet starting at 1:00 p.m.
