Hot Bats and David Partyka Silence Britons in Critical Sweep

ALBION, Mich. - The first two games of the four-game set with Albion College at Nicolay Field were filled the drama, but on Friday a change of scenery provided very little drama as Adrian (26-10, 20-4) swept the Britons in convincing fashion by finals of 13-6 and 9-0 at Frank Joranko Field in Albion.

The Bulldogs hammered 18 hits off three Albion pitchers in Game 1. Brett Timmer (2-2) took the ball and went 4.1 innings allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs. Doug Counterman and David Pardo combined to finish the game and gave up four runs but just one of those was earned. Adrian walked three times in the game and struck out just twice.

Andrew Geese got the start for Adrian and went 3.2 innings allowing eight hits and three earned runs. Geese threw 68 pitches and walked one while punching out a pair. Nick Sarkissian took the ball in the fourth and finished things out going 3.1 innings and picking up the win improving to 2-2. Sarkissian gave up three hits, two earned runs and struck out one.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first, three runs in the second, one run in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and three runs in the seventh. Andrew Anderson hit his 10th double and fourth home run of the season and finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI's. Nate Sarkissian had a pair of doubles (7,8) in a 4-for-4 performance with a run and three RBI's. Alex Cowart went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI's. He had two sacrifice flies and also stole his ninth base of the year. Andrew DeLuca had a career-high four hits in five at-bats and scored four times.

David Partyka worked his magic in Game 2 as he posted his third MIAA shutout of the season improving to 6-1. He gave up six hits and walked none with four strikeouts. He needed just 87 pitches and induced 10 groundouts and six flyouts. Jacob Rinkinen (3-5) took the loss for Albion allowing 10 hits and six earned runs.

Adrian broke into the scoring column in the second with two runs. Joe Dubina was credited with an RBI on an error by shortstop Pete Salens and Cody Meyer had an RBI sacrifice bunt in the inning. The Bulldogs scored once in the third as Brian Bilius had a RBI single with two outs.

The Bulldogs broke things open with three runs in the fourth and seventh innings. Anderson belted a two-RBI double down the left field line and DeLuca had a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Bilius smacked a three-run, one-out home run in the seventh. Bilius was 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI's in the nightcap. Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI's. Cowart finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Dubina went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Notes: Adrian outscored Albion, 30-13, in the four-game series...Adrian hit .404 as a team and posted a 2.89 ERA...Adrian pitchers walked five and struck out 22...Cowart went 8-for-12 with six runs, three RBI's and two steals...Sarkissian went 7-for-15 with three runs, two doubles, one home run and five RBI's...Bilius went 4-for-11 with three runs, one home run and seven RBI's.
