Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College women's basketball team fell in their final conference game of the season 73-52 to St. Mary's College. The Bulldogs record drops to 7-16 on the season and finish conference play 4-12.
Adrian took an early four point lead at 17:44 but was unable to keep pace with the Belles. The Bulldogs managed to tie the game at 20 apiece with just over five minutes to play in the half. However, St. Mary's closed out the half on a 10-2 run, leading 30-22 at the break.
St. Mary's improved their lead in the second half starting on a 15-5 run over the first eight minutes of the half to put the game out of reach. The Belles led by as many as 28 in the second half to close out the game.
Kellee Wonders, a junior, led Adrian with 12 points, seven rebounds and tied a school record with five blocks. Freshman Senneca Scott added in nine points to go along with three board and two steals. Junior Katie Ross added in eight points, six from long range, and a game-high four steals. Rookie Jayma Nihart scored a career-high seven points. Junior Jenn Headley added in seven points while pulling down four rebounds. Freshman LaQwana Dockery led the Bulldogs with three assists.
The different in the game was that St. Mary's turned 30 Adrian turnovers into 38 points while the Bulldogs scored 16 points off of 22 turnovers by the Belles. St. Mary's out-scored Adrian in the paint 38-18.
Adrian will wrap up their regular season as they travel to Rochester College on Saturday, February 19 for a 1:00 p.m. game.
