Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's hockey team (10-1) scored five unanswered goals to rally from a 2-0 deficit and win 6-4, to split a weekend series with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (8-5-1) Sunday afternoon.
Just as in the previous night's game, it took the No. 5 Adrian team some time to find their legs.
However, unlike the night before the result was different.
Five different Bulldogs registered multiple point games and Adrian outshot Stevens Point by more than a 4-to-1 margin in the final period to seal the win.
Josh Ranalli scored twice in under a minute late in the second to tie the game at 2-2.
From that point on, it was all Adrian.
After Ranalli's seventh and eighth goals of the season, he assisted on Josh Cousineau's third goal of the year to put the Bulldogs in the lead for good.
Shelby Gray would net two scores in under three minutes to notch his seventh and eight goals of the year midway through the third period to put Adrian up 5-2.
Gray's second of the afternoon would prove to be the game winner.
The Pointers would get two late goals within the final 90 seconds. The first would come with a two-man advantage after pulling their goaltender to come within a pair of goals at 5-3, while the second would come with just five seconds remaining. Between the two late Pointer goals, Chris Leone would net his second of the year into an empty net.
Ranalli would also earn an assist on Leone's goal to give him a four-point afternoon.
The other four Bulldogs who had multi-point games were Gray (2 goals), Cousineau (1 goal, 2 assists), Leone (1 goal, 1 assist), and Zach Graham (3 assists).
Two of Graham's three assists came on the first two Bulldog goals and helped spark the rally.
James Hamby made 20 saves for Adrian, who outshot their opponent 39-24.
The Bulldogs power play was clicking this weekend with six goals.
The team will travel south for its next game, Friday, Jan. 4, to Alabama to face an independent division I team at 8 p.m. in non-conference action; before returning home to face Geneseo State on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m.
