ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs took on St. Scholastica Saturday night in the first game of a crucial weekend series that would affect the women's NCHA standings. Adrian and St. Scholastica each came in with 11 points apiece as they faced off for the first of three games in 2014-15.
Adrian found their spark from Kristin Lewicki as she would lead the Bulldog attack with four points on two goals and two assists. Lewicki scored the first goal of the game on assists from Sarah Shureb and Kaylyn Schroka just 54 seconds into the game. Kusch used this late first period goal to spark her offensive presence in the game as she would notch three second period points on two goals and one assist. Lewicki continued to be a threat in the second as she would tally her second goal while Logan Taylor would tally two assists for the period. The second period was a back and forth period as the two teams traded goals over the first 9:06 before Adrian pulled away on a power play goal from Michelle Jones at the 12:32 mark. The period was capped by Kusch's second goal as the Bulldogs carried a 6-3 lead heading into the final period of play.
Adrian pulled away for good in the third as Taylor tallied a power play goal at the 5:06 mark from Lewicki and Shureb. The Bulldogs would control the final 20 minutes with nine shots on goal while allowing three from the Saints.
Adrian secured their win, 7-4, led by Jade Walsh (6-0-1) in net as she recorded the win for the Bulldogs by making 23 saves on 27 shots faced.
