Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team celebrated a milestone on Sunday afternoon as head coach Craig Rainey captured his 500th win in game one's 9-2 victory over Olivet College at Nicolay Field. The Bulldogs completed the four-game sweep of the Comets in game two with a 4-1 victory to improve to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the MIAA.

The Bulldogs scored in four of their six innings at the plate in game one. Adrian scored three times in the second to take a 3-1 lead. The Bulldogs added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Brent Greenwood improved to 2-0 this season with a complete-game effort. He allowed seven hits and one earned run with no walks and four strikeouts. Jimmy Schoof took the loss for Olivet (0-2) throwing 4.2 innings and allowing six earned runs with six walks. Jensen Aubry also allowed three earned runs in 1.1 innings as the third hurler of the game for the Comets.

Sam Fischer ended the game going 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Mitch Stefanski hit his second home run of the season, which was a two-run shot to right in the sixth. Drew Shutes went 2-for-4 with his first triple and two runs scored. Tommy Eng had a great game at the plate going 1-for-1 with two runs, two walks and two RBI. Ben Yax went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

The Bulldogs finished off a perfect 5-0 week with a 4-1 win in game two. Olivet got a run in the first on two hits off starter Holden Branch. Branch then limited the Comets to no runs over the next five innings on the mound and just four hits. The Bulldogs had a good defensive game with no errors and also turned two double plays. Adrian scored three times in the second just like game one to take a 3-1 lead. R.J. Rios had a RBI single up the middle to score the first run. Tommy Eng had a RBI groundout to score the second run and Yax laid down a squeeze bunt for the third run.

Adrian got one insurance run in the fourth courtesy of Eng and Hayden Craig with back-to-back singles with one out. On Craig's single, there was a throwing error by right fielder Drew Thompson which allowed Eng to score after originally stopping at third. Branch gave way to Greg Sombati in the seventh and the junior picked up his first save as a Bulldog allowing a two-out walk before inducing a fielder's choice grounder to end the game.

Adrian had just four hits off Olivet's David Hernandez as he threw 5.1 innings and allowed just one earned run with four walks and two strikeouts. Branch improved to 2-0 allowing one earned run with three walks and two strikeouts.
