@AdrianBaseball Blasts Blackburn Behind Potent Offense, Strong Starting Pitching by Tommy Parsons

Box Score

JACKSON, Miss.--Adrian's sophomore pitcher Tommy Parsons set the tone early on the mound, while the Bulldog offense exploded for 22 runs on 20 hits, including three home runs to claim a 22-1 win over the Blackburn Beavers on the campus of Millsaps College Saturday afternoon.

Parsons, who went 8-1 in 2015, picked up his ninth career win in just his 10th start versus Blackburn. He tossed a solid six innings, scattering just four singles with six strikeouts while issuing no walks. Sophomore left hander Guy McComas and sophomore righty Tyler Gnodtke combined to pitch the final three innings to close out the contest.

Offensively, Adrian was shut out in the first inning, but lit up the scoreboard in every inning for the rest of the game. Adrian scored two in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, four in the sixth, seventh and six in the eighth.

Junior shortstop Ryan Dorow, junior first basemen Collin Parcher and junior second basemen Brian Killinger each had three hits on the day. Dorow finished 3-for-6 with a 2-run home run and 3 runs batted in; Parcher had two singles, including a double, while Killinger had three singles.

Senior outfielder Gunnar Glodich, senior outfielder Jeff Gertley and junior catcher Dakota Cararo added two hits apiece, with Gertley hitting his first home run of the year in the sixth inning, while Cararo's hits include two doubles.

Junior outfielder Ian Mikowski added a two-run triple in the fifth inning and freshman catcher Korey Mazur added a grand slam home run in just his second ever at-bat in a Bulldog uniform.

Freshman shortstop Dugan Darnell chipped in with two RBIs on a single in the seventh inning.

For Blackburn, six different student-athletes had a hit including Brock Hill and Joey Szerletich both with doubles.

Adrian and Blackburn will conclude their two-game series at Millsaps College on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern.
