Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Second-ranked Plattsburgh State (6-1-0) scored in the final seven seconds of the first period and held onto the 1-0 lead to earn the win over the fourth-ranked Bulldogs in the opening game of the UNO Classic on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalie Kate Turner made 34 saves in the game to keep Adrian (6-2-1) in the game throughout the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The score remained deadlocked at zero for most of the first period as both goalies made multiple saves. Plattsburgh's Courtney Moriarty scored a power-play goal that would prove to be the difference in the game off an assist from Melissa Sheeran in the final 10 seconds of the opening period.
The Cardinals had a 13-9 edge in shots for the first period and an 11-7 edge in the third while the Bulldogs outshot Plattsburgh 12-11 in the second period. Adrian was 0-for-4 on the power play; the Cardinals scored once on six man-up advantages.
Both goalies saw a lot of action in the game with both teams generating multiple scoring chances. Turner tallied 34 saves in the losing effort to bring her season record to 5-2-1. Kassi Abbott (W, 4-1-0) saved all 28 shots she faced.

• Tory Harshman and Kelly O'Sullivan led the Bulldogs with five shots on goal.
