Visiting Calvin Snaps Women's Basketball Winning Streak, 77-48

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College women's basketball team on Saturday saw its four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of visiting Calvin College, 77-48, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action. 

THE BASICS
Final Score: Calvin College 77, Adrian College 48

Records: Calvin Knights 13-7 overall, 8-3 MIAA; Adrian Bulldogs 8-11 overall, 5-6 MIAA

TOP 'DAWGS
= Junior Ashley Morris led Adrian with 13 points and six rebounds.

= Freshman Sha'Trice Graves also had six boards and she had two blocked shots to tie for game-high honors.

= Sophomores Aly Kubik (8 points) and Angelina Goosby (5 points) had four assists and three steals, respectively. 

THE OPPOSITION
= Ali Spayde filled the stat sheet with a game-high 26 points (9-16 FGs), eight rebounds and seven assists.

= Nicole Meyer posted a double-double with 12 points (5-6 FGs) and a game-best 11 rebounds, plus two blocks.

= Kara Minderhoud and Bre Luurtsema also scored in double-digits with 10 points each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Calvin shot 47.5 percent from the field (29-61) while holding Adrian to 37.3 (19-51).

= The Knights also took advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Bulldogs 42 to 29.

= The teams combined for 43 turnovers (Adrian 23-20) but Calvin capitalized on those mistakes by outscoring AC on 31-16 off turnovers.

= Calvin led wire-to-wire, racing to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter. Once Meyer made a layin with 6 minutes and 9 seconds left in the opening quarter to put Calvin up by double-digits (13-2) for the first time, Adrian was unable to recover. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Calvin sweeps the season series to move 90-26 lifetime against Adrian, including 41-13 in the Maple City.

= Adrian was enjoying its longest win streak in the month of January in 16 years, when the 2001-02 squad won five-straight.

= Graves is averaging 5.6 rebounds since Jan. 6. She lists in the MIAA top-10 in blocks with 20.
