TOP 'DAWGS
= In the opener, Parsons continued his terrific senior season with his sixth complete game and second 1-0 shutout. He set a season-high with 13 strikeouts, walked one and scattered six hits.

= In the nightcap, Banks (3-2) pitched seven strong innings in which he struck out a career-best 11 Britons, walked one, allowed four hits and just one run (unearned).

= Junior Justin McMann went 3-for-4 with four RBI from the No. 8 spot in the batting order during Game 2. Sophomore Brady Wood also had three hits in that contest, plus two runs scored and two RBI.

= Sophomore Gunner Rainey added three hits and scored three runs on the afternoon.

= Senior Frank Resto and freshman Sean O'Keefe contributed two hits each in the nightcap.

THE OPPOSITION
= Jordyn Finney went 4-for-7, including a double, in the doubleheader.

= Riley Stesiak was 2-for-3 in Game 1, including a double.

= Jack Wyman also threw well in the Game 1 pitchers' duel with Parsons, striking out seven in 6-2/3 innings with one walk. He gave up just four singles and the lone run.

HOW IT HAPPENED, Game 1
= Paddock delivered a single to left-center field for the walk-off win with two outs. Rainey led off with an infield single to third base and advanced to second when classmate Tristin Richardson sacrificed. After senior Hunter Hayes was intentionally walked and Wood flied out, Paddock singled home the only run on a two-strike count.

= Albion had two golden chances to strike first on the scoreboard but could not do so. In the top of the first inning, Stesiak and Finney led off with back-to-back singles. Parsons induced Wyman hitting into a double play to the shortstop and then he struck out James Spilko with Stesiak on third base to end the first threat. In the next frame, Kellan Huang led off with a triple to the right-center field wall but Parsons bore down to strike out the side.

= Albion left seven runners on base.

HOW IT HAPPENED, Game 2
= The Bulldogs blew open a close game with four runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings, making the score 13-1 at the time. McMann capped the sixth with a two-run double to left field. Hayes homered with a man aboard and senior pinch-hitter Aaron Ajrouche connected on a RBI-single to highlight the seventh.

= Adrian outhit Albion 17 to 7.

= The Bulldogs grabbed a five-run lead through the midpoint. Paddock singled home the first two runs and McMann's RBI-double in the third made it 3-0. Then in the fifth, McMann struck again with a RBI-single through the right side and Resto followed up with a RBI-double to right field.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Albion leads the all-time series 103-69, but Adrian has won 34 of the past 41 meetings since 2008.

= Parsons set the school record with his seventh career shutout, eclipsing Bobby Rickstad (2005-08) and David Partyka (2009-11) who had six each. Parsons also became the third Bulldog in history to reach 250 career strikeouts (254).

= Hayes took over the MIAA home run lead with five. He also continues to top the conference with 30 RBI.

= Adrian has won 14 consecutive games at home dating back to last season (13-0 in 2018).

= Parsons leads the MIAA in victories (7-0) and strikeouts (75) while lowering his earned-run average from 1.50 to 1.33.

= Albion is 2-11 in true road games this season.

UP NEXT
= These same two teams meet in Albion for a Sunday doubleheader (1 p.m.) to complete their four-game weekend series.
