ADRIAN, Mich.--Senior captain Cory Dunn became the seventh Adrian College Bulldog in program history to reach 100 assists for a career, but MSOE jumped out to a 2-0 lead en route to a 3-1 victory in Game 1 of their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Quarterfinals series on Friday evening.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Senior defenseman Braden Hellems scored Adrian's lone goal in the second period.

= Classmate Connor Armour won 14 of 19 face-offs and classmate Bryan Yim 6-for-10.

= Dunn and junior Dino Balsamo were credited assists on Hellems' 10th goal of the season.

THE OPPOSITION
= Rock Boynton, the Second Star of the Game, made 31 stops.

= Michael Romund scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the second period.

= Stian Owens led MSOE in the face-off dot with 9-for-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= MSOE grabbed a two-goal lead by Nate Rogers and Romund 55 seconds apart, beginning at the 8:54 mark into the second stanza.

= With Adrian on the man-advantage, Hellems cut the deficit in half later in the period with 6 minutes and 51 seconds remaining. Balsamo chipped the puck to the right point to Dunn, who fed a pass to Hellems at the left point where he rifled the puck through traffic to beat Boynton.

= MSOE got an insurance goal late in the third period with Adrian on the power play as Jeff Makowski scored shorthanded with 4:17 left in the game. He stole the puck at Adrian's defensive blueline and scored off his own rebound shot after Entmaa's initial save on the breakaway.

= Adrian pulled the goalie for the final 58 seconds for an extra attacker, but could not get a shot on goal to equalize and force overtime.

= The Bulldog defense killed off a five-minute major penalty that overlapped the first and second periods, keeping the game scoreless. They killed off all five MSOE power-play opportunities.

= With about three seconds left in the first period, Balsamo was robbed on that shorthanded attempt by Boynton's glove save after eluding a defender that would have gotten AC on the scoreboard.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= The Raiders snap a seven-game losing streak against the Bulldogs, who lead the all-time series 37-6-2 overall and 21-4-2 at home. Tonight marked MSOE's first postseason win versus Adrian since the 2012 Harris Cup Final, 4-3 in overtime. 

= Dunn passes Kyle Brothers (99 from 2014-17) for sole possession of seventh place on the school's all-time assists chart and is just the third defenseman to record the feat of 100. In addition, Dunn ties blueliner Quinn Waller (15g, 108a from 2007-10) for 12th on the AC overall scoring list with 123 points on 23 goals and 100 assists.

= Adrian hasn't allowed a power-play goal on its opponents last 12 chances.

UP NEXT
= These same two teams meet in Game 2 at 3:05 p.m. Saturday. If Adrian wins, a deciding 20-minute mini-game will be conducted immediately. At the end of the second game, the ice shall be resurfaced and there is a 15-minute intermission. Starting lineups are announced before the mini-game, and the teams will play the full 20 minutes, regardless of score. Should the game be tied after the 20 minutes, the teams will play 20-minute sudden-death overtimes periods.
