Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich.--Sophomore Thomas Miller plated classmate Brandon Cooper from second base with a single to the right-center gap with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Adrian to a come-from-behind 7-6 walk-off victory against visiting Kalamazoo in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action on Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS
= Final Scoreline: Adrian College 7-10-1, Kalamazoo College 6-10-1 (10 innings)

= Location: Nicolay Field, Adrian, Mich.; Weather:  Mostly Cloudy, 51 degrees, Wind SW 21 mph

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 12-4 overall (5-1 MIAA); Kalamazoo Hornets 3-8 overall (1-1 MIAA)

TOP 'DAWGS
= Cooper finished with three hits, including a home run and double, to go along with two runs batted in, two runs scored and a walk.

= Senior Dugan Darnell and Miller both went 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored, with Miller adding two walks and Darnell, one.

= Darnell (1-1) also got the win in relief, going 0.2 innings allowing just a walk and striking out one batter.

THE OPPOSITION
= Max Moran was 3-for-5, including a home run, with two RBI.

= Stefan Leclerc had two doubles.

= Jordan Wiley had two hits, two walks and two stolen bases.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= After Kzoo squandered the bases loaded in the top of the 10th, Adrian capitalized on its prime scoring chance in the bottom half. Cooper led off with a walk and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by senior Jordan Torrento. After a strikeout, Miller delivered the game-winning single to right-center to bring home Cooper with two outs.

= The Hornets loaded the bases on walks with one out in the 10th, but could not score. Darnell, who started at third base, came to the mound with two inherited runners on and walked Wiley to load the bases. But the hard-throwing right-hander retired Chase Coselman on a pop-up to second and struck out Noah Hecht swinging to get out of the jam.

= Adrian forced extra innings with a three-run rally in the seventh to knot it 6-all. Darnell drew a bases-loaded walk, senior Korey Mazur hit a RBI-single to right-center and freshman pinch-hitter Kevin Cardentey capped it with a sacrifice fly to center for an unearned run.

= The Hornets led 3-0 after three innings. In the first, Wiley led off with an infield single and got to third base after a pair of steals before Hecht brought him to home with a RBI-groundout. Two frames later, Moran homered to left and Hecht hit a sacrifice fly to center.

= Cooper homered over the wall in right-center to get Adrian on the scoreboard in the third.

= The teams traded runs over the next two innings as Kzoo led 6-3 after five.

= Kzoo had 12 runners left on base while Adrian recorded 10.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= The teams were originally supposed to play a doubleheader in Adrian on Saturday, but that date got washed out due to rain.

= The Bulldogs lead the all-time series over the Hornets, 111-66, including 70-38 at home.

= Cooper leads Adrian with two home runs on the season and is second in the MIAA with a .455 batting average.

= Wiley is third in the conference with 13 stolen bases. For Adrian, senior Zack Zschering had a stolen base to give him 12 on the season for fourth.

= Adrian sophomore pitcher Mo Hanley went 5.1 scoreless innings allowing three hits and five walks with five strikeouts in relief. His outing qualified him for leading the MIAA with a 0.00 earned-run average.

UP NEXT
= Adrian begins a four-game MIAA series against Olivet at home on Saturday, with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The teams move to Olivet on Sunday for another twinbill that also begins at 1 p.m.
