ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College baseball team has a busy week ahead with five games between Wednesday and Sunday. In the most recent d3baseball.com top-25 poll, unfortunatley the Bulldogs fell out of the top-25 and sit receiving 40 votes. This week, Adrian is tasked with pair of non-conference games against Otterbein and The College of Wooster, while also taking on Calvin University in a three game series to begin MIAA conference play.
Adrian sat on a three-game winning streak with wins over Siena Heights and a pair over Heidelberg University before it was snapped in a late loss to Earlham College in the team's last game on Friday, March 25. The Bulldogs will open up today against Otterbein University on the road at 4:00 PM. Otterbein sits 12-5 to begin the season while the Bulldogs come in with a record of 8-5. Adrian will then be tasked with the three-game series against Calvin University who is 7-6 to begin the year. The last game of the week for the Bulldogs will take place on Sunday as they host Wooster who sits with a record of 8-4.
As a team this season, the Bulldogs have averaged 8.6 runs per game with a team batting average of .315. The pitching staff as compiled an earn run average of 5.97 while the team holds a .946 fielding percentage.
Thomas Miller leads the Bulldogs with a batting average of. 418 followed by .375 from
Don Goodes, and .364 from
Easton Rogers. Miller also leads the team in runs scored (18), hits (23), triples (5), total bases (43), slugging percentage (.782), and walks (12). The Bulldogs have already his 14 home runs this season crediting six of them to the clean-up hitter
AJ Miranda.
Maxwell Denny leads the starting pitching staff with a 3.52 ERA on the season in five starts with an opponent batting average of .190 and a team-high 18 strikeouts.
Michael Swanson holds a 3.60 ERA in five appearances with two starts followed by a 5.56 ERA from
Austin Frederick in four appearances with one start. Out of the bullpen, the top-two arms comes from
Andrew Giorno who has thrown 7.1 innings this season with an ERA of 1.23 and closer
Jacob Hanoian with an ERA of 1.08 in 8.1 innings pitched with a save.
