3/9/2022 10:40:00 AM

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team is at Docking Stadium this week as the Bulldogs are set to take on Westminster College (Pa.) and Chatham University. Adrian has started hot this season as they stand with a 3-0 record on the year so far. The Bulldogs began the year with a 12-11 win in overtime against crosstown rival Siena Heights University before defeating Lake Forest College on the road, and Earlham College at home.

After a recent cancellation for Westminster, the Bulldogs were able to fill the spot on the Titans' schedule as the game was added earlier this week. Westminster comes in with a 1-1 record on the year as they defeated Muskingum at home, 9-3, and lost to Mount Union in overtime on the road, 12-11. Chatham sits 1-3 to start the season with losses to Oberlin, Bridgewater, and Messiah while defeating Marietta.

Freshman Michael Jonas is leading the Bulldogs with 15 points on the year on seven goals with eight assists. Peyton Gasche sits as the leading scorer with eight goals and six assists for 14 points. Gasche sits seven goals away from racking up his 100th career goal. Chris French ranks third on the team in points with nine on four goals and five assists as he is also in reach of his 100th career goal. French has 90 goals for his career coming into the week and is one point shy of his 150th career point.

Sam Spangler has held the starting spot in goal for Adrian as he has started all three games this season. He holds a 3-0 record on the year with 15 goals allowed and a save percentage of .625.

As a team, Adrian has outscored opponents 51-19 on the season with help of a 15-3 blowout over Lake Forest and a 24-5 blowout over Earlham. Seven of the team's goals have come on the man-up and 19 come unassisted. Adrian's defense has held strong doubling the amount of ground balls to its opponents as they have collected 140 this year. The Bulldogs have also forced 74 turnovers causing 36 of them.

With the help of Max Leventis at the face off dot, the Bulldogs have won 75% of face offs this season as a team. Leventis is 42-of-57 on the face off with a team-high 29 ground balls. He picked up a pair of accolades after last week's two games as he was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week and was named to the USILA Team of the Week.

Adrian will begin its week on Thursday night at 7:00 PM as they host Westminster College (Pa.) followed by Chatham University at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 12.
