ADRIAN, Mich. --The RV Adrian College baseball team is back on the field on Tuesday as they host Trine University in a MIAA contest. The Bulldogs have struggled this season and ended last week with a pair of losses to Calvin University and The College of Wooster. Adrian comes in with a 10-8 record on the season and sit 2-1 in MIAA play. The Bulldogs are holding on to votes in the latest D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll as they sit with 11 votes compared to last week's 40 votes.
Adrian is tasked with Trine University in a single, nine inning game on Tuesday followed by a three-game weekend series against Hope College starting at Nicolay Field on Friday. The Bulldogs will then complete the series on the road as they travel to Hope for a Saturday doubleheader. Trine sits with a record of 8-10 on the season and is the only undefeated team in the MIAA with a sweep over Olivet last weekend. Hope sits 10-5 coming into the week with a 1-1 record in the MIAA, and is tasked with a conference game on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week which could throw a wrinkle into the weekend's pitching staff plans for Hope.
Adrian is coming off a rough week after finishing 2-3 last week with a pair of wins over Calvin while losing to Otterbein, Calvin, and Wooster. Only one hitter in the Bulldog batting order are hitting over .400 with
Thomas Miller batting .415.
Don Goodes comes into the week batting .406 whileÂ
AJ Miranda follows with a .348 average,
Ryan Davis batting .333, and
Aaron Valentine .321. Goodes leads the team in hits (29), runs scores (21), and doubles (11). Miranda has led the team this season in RBIs with 24 due to the help of seven doubles, a pair of triples, and six home runs.
The Adrian pitching staff is led by starters
Michael Swanson and
Maxwell Denny. Swanson is 209 on the season with six appearances and three starts. He earned a shutout and complete game over the weekend when the Bulldogs defeated Calvin 13-0. Swanson holds an ERA of 2.45 on the year followed by Denny with an ERA of 4.03 with a record of 2-1 in a team-high 29 innings with 26 strikeouts. Out of the pen,
Andrew Giorno holds an ERA of 3.18 with a 3-1 record on the year.
Jacob Hanoian has been lights out for the Bulldogs with a 0.84 ERAÂ with two saves. Swanson leads the team in opponent batting average with an average of .123 followed by Hanoian at .139

Michael Swanson ranks fifth in the country in hits allowed per nine innings (3.68) and WHIP (0.77).
As a team, the Bulldogs are batting .307 with an on base percentage of .397. On the bases, the Bulldogs are 34-of-40 when it comes to stole bases.
The Bulldogs begin the week on Tuesday, April 5 at Nicolay Field against Trine University at 4:00 PM. The Bulldogs will then host Hope College on Friday at 4:00 PM followed by a doubleheader on the road beginning at 1:00 PM.
