TOLEDO, OH. -- The No. 6 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team faced off against the University of Toledo in a GLCHL conference home and home series over the weekend, putting up sixteen goals in two games to secure the sweep.
The Rockets, who are the newest members of the GLCHL, made the short trek to the Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday night to face off against the top-ranked Bulldogs, but were held up by a strong offensive performance from the home team. Dylan Gajewski. The Bulldogs went 6-for-8 on the power play and scored once while short-handed. Goaltender
Peyton Trzaska made 16 saves in the win for Adrian.
Adrian and Toledo met again on Saturday night at the Team Toledo Ice House with the Bulldogs coming out on top again, this time in shutout fashion, winning 5-0 and securing all six conference points on the weekend.
Sam Spaedt scored twice while short-handed for the Bulldogs, while Armstrong, Noetzel, and Gajewski all scored again. Goaltender
Noah Decottignies made 17 saves to earn the shutout victory in between the pipes.
The MD1 Bulldogs will welcome No. 5 Niagara University to the Arrington Ice Arena on November 9-10 for a key matchup. Puck drops at 7:30 PM on Thursday night, and 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs will also host an Adrian Old Timers Hockey Association (AOTHA) Appreciation Night at Thursday's game. Tickets for both games can be purchased on the Adrian College Athletics website.
