KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The Adrian College women's golf team traveled to Wisconsin over the weekend to compete in the Midwest Region Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bulldogs had a successful weekend placing second out of 33 teams. Adrian sat in first place after the opening round with a 317 followed by a 311 on day two to total a 628 as a team.
Sara Bevington led the way on day one with a score of 78 to finish +6.
Riley Kleck went on to shoot 79 for Adrian followed by
Lauren Reed and
Olivia Ohmer who finished the opening round with an 80.
Ainslee Hewitt held the final starting lineup spot where she shot 83 during the first round.
Kennedy Kehres led the Adrian individuals with an 82 on day one followed by an 86 from
Ella Mason and a 92 from
Ashlynn Challand.
Ohmer led the way for Adrian on Saturday finishing the round with a 75. Ohmer finished with the round with 13 pars and a birdie to finish +3. Reed shot a 76 on Saturday with the help of 15 pars while Kleck and Bevington each shot 80. Hewitt finished the second round with an 81. Challand led the individuals on day two with an 87 followed by a pair of 89's from Kehres and Mason.
Ohmer went on to tie for sixth in the field with a two-day total of 155 followed by Reed who tied for ninth with a 156. Bevington finished the tournament with a 158 while Kleck shot 159 and Hewitt shot 164. Kehres finished the tournament with a 171 followed by 175 from Mason and a 179 from Challand.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, September 27 when they travel to Thornapple Pointe for the second round of the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin University. The round will begin at 1:00 PM.
