GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Adrian College women's golf team competed in the Lynn Schweizer Invitational over the weekend hosted by Denison University. The tournament served as a good test for the Bulldogs as eight of the 14 participating teams appeared in the NCAA National Championship last spring. The Bulldogs finished the weekend with an 11
th place finish with a team score of 648.
"Playing in a competitive tournament like this one is what this team needs to move on to the next level," said head coach Brent Greenwood. "We need to focus on the little things to bring our scores down. It's a brand-new season with the MIAA up for grabs and its up to us to continue to get better and go win another title."
Olivia Ohmer and
Lauren Reed led the team with a two-day total of 155 to finish 16
th in the field. Ohmer and Reed shot identical rounds with a 77 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday.
Riley Kleck shot a 169 for Adrian over the two days to finish 58
th. Kleck struggled on day one with an 88, but bounced back to shoot an 81 on day two.
Sara Bevington also shot 169 during the two-day tournament with an 82 on Saturday and an 87 on Sunday.
Ella Mason rounded out the starting five with a 193 after shooting 96 and 97.
The women's golf team will travel to Marshall, Michigan for their next competition for a two-day tournament hosted by Olivet College. The Bulldogs will tee off on Friday, September 8 at 2:00 PM at Medalist Golf Club. Saturday's round will begin at 8:30 AM to complete the tournament.
