ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Adrian College figure skating team traveled to Trine University over the weekend to compete in their first competition of their qualifying season. Adrian went on to win the competition, with a total of 270 points while picking up 10 first-place finishes. With this win, the Bulldogs are one win away from earning their 11th Midwestern Conference title in team history. Trine University finished behind the Bulldogs in 2nd place with 244 points, University of Michigan in 3rd with 243 points, Western Michigan University in 4th with 200 points, and Michigan State University in 5th with 197 points. There were a total of 22 teams at this event.
The following Bulldogs have earned first place finishes - Natalie Bruno in the Juvenile Women Short Program Group A, Jacob Costello in Preliminary Solo Pattern Dance Group A, Natalie Bruno in Intermediate Solo Free Dance, Madeline Josey in Juvenile Solo Free Dance Group A, Lianah Noormohamed in Juvenile Solo Free Dance Group B, Natalie Bruno in Pre-Bronze Solo Pattern Dance, Emily Feldman in Excel Juvenile Free Skate Group C, Madison Myers in Excel Novice Free Skate Group B, Carina Cooper in Excel Junior Free Skate, and Bella Morris in Excel Senior Free Skate.
The following Bulldogs added podium finishes in the following events, earning top points towards the team total: Emily Feldman earned a 3rd place finish in the Juvenile Short Program Group B, Trinity Reagan skated a powerful Intermediate Short Program with a 3rd place finish, Madison Myers earned the silver in the Novice Short Program, Miranda Sutton earned a 3rd place finish in the Junior Short Program, the Hales twins (Lena and Brianna) celebrated their Birthday and their silver medals this weekend in the Preliminary Plus Free Skate (Group A&B), Kara Curtin earned a silver medal in the Excel Preliminary Free Skate Group A, Lianah Noormohamed earned the bronze medal in Excel Preliminary Free Skate Group B, Lena Hales finished 3rd in Preliminary Solo Pattern Dance Group A, Natalie Bruno earned the silver medal in her Excel Juvenile Free Skate Group A, Mallory Crandle earned the bronze in the Excel Juvenile Free Skate Group B. Adrian's High Team Maneuver Squad (Maya Renzoni, Bella Morris, Emily Feldman, and Carina Cooper) had a 3rd place finish out of 10. Adrian's Low Team Maneuver Squad (Kate Morey, Lena Hales, Lianah Noormohamed, Brooke Pomroy, Kendra Shoup) earned a 2nd place finish out of 18 teams.
The top-three points contributors for the Bulldogs were Natalie Bruno with 52 points, Lianah Noormohamed with 30 points, and Emily Feldman with 28 points.
Adrian's Figure Skating team's next event will be at Texas A&M on February 21-23. Go Bulldogs!
