SUGAR LAND, Texas -- The Adrian College figure skating team traveled to Texas A&M University over the weekend to compete at the "Lone Star Skate". Adrian placed 1st out of 24 teams, with a total of 279 points. University of Michigan placed 2nd with 251 points, Trine University placed 3rd with 250, and Northwestern University placed 4th with 233 points.
The Bulldogs Earned a team first-place finish in the Low Team Maneuvers event (Kate Morey, Chloe Ewing, Lianah Noormohamed, Christine Koran, Brooke Pomroy, and Kayla Robinson). Adrian added individual first-place finishes in the following events: Chloe Ewing (Juvenile Short Program), Carina Cooper (Junior Short Program Group A), Christine Koran (Juvenile Free Dance Group A), Alexis Brzezinski (Intermediate Free Skate Group C), Carina Cooper (Junior Free Skate Group A), Mackenzie Cicero (Senior Free Skate Group A), Bella Morris (Senior Free Skate Group B), Melissa Crawford (Preliminary Plus Free Skate Group B), Kayla Robinson (Pre-Juvenile Free Skate Group B), Chloe Ewing (Juvenile Free Skate Group A), Kendra Shoup (Intermediate Free Dance), Christine Koran (Bronze Pattern Dance).
The following Bulldogs added podium finishes in the following events, earning top points towards the team total: Brooklyn Amburgey - 2nd (Preliminary Free Skate Group B), Lianah Noormohamed - 2nd (Preliminary Free Skate Group C), Lena Hales - 2nd (Preliminary Plus Group A), Kate Morey - 2nd (Pre-Juvenile FS Group A), Brooke Pomroy - 2nd (Pre-Juvenile Free Skate Group B), Alexis Brzezinski (Novice Free Dance), Jake Costello (Preliminary Pattern Dance), Julia Miranda (Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance).
The top-three points contributors for the Bulldogs were Chloe Ewing and Christine Koran tied for the most points (36), Lianah Noormohamed (25), Kayla Robinson and Carina Cooper tied for 3rd (24).
The next event will take place in March at the "Skate on Wisconsin" competition in Madison, Wisconsin on March 13.
