ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Adrian College club volleyball team traveled to Oakland University this past weekend. The Bulldogs would struggle in opening pool play, but would storm back and win their next three matches in bracket play and defeat Ferris State University to win the Silver Bracket!
In their opening pool play matches Adrian would face Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan. They would struggle and lose to both teams in three straight sets. The Bulldogs would settle in as they would face Eastern Michigan again for their first match of bracket play. Adrian would end up defeating Eastern Michigan, 2-1 to move on to play University of Michigan-Flint. In the second match of bracket play, the Bulldogs would win again, 2-1 to head to the championship match. Playing best of three, Adrian would be victorious by defeating Ferris State, 2-0 to win the Silver Bracket.
To lead Adrian was
Gabby Mazza with 31 kills on the weekend as
Maddy Ritchie would add 30 kills of her own and would total 13 blocks in the five matches. Mazza led the team with 22 digs with
Olivia Sturgeon adding 18. In the five matches,
Samantha Wright would total 12 service aces as Sturgeon would contribute eight.
The Bulldogs will play in the Saginaw Valley Tournament on Saturday, February 14 as they play the host Saginaw Valley at 8:30AM!
