SAGINAW, Mich. – The Adrian College club volleyball team competed in the Saginaw Valley Tournament this past weekend. The Bulldogs would go 2-2-1 on the weekend and place in the top four in their five-game weekend.
In their first match of the tournament Adrian would lose to Saginaw Valley State in two straight matches. The Bulldogs would face Northern Michigan and defeat them, 2-0. Next up would be Wayne State University where they would tie, 1-1. After the first loss against Saginaw Valley State the Bulldogs would comeback to defeat the Cardinals, 2-0. Adrian would face Wayne State for a second time, but this time would fall to them, 2-0 to end their weekend.
Gabby Mazza would record a team-high 40 kills in the five matches with
Maddy Ritchie to follow with 28 kills of her own. Ritchie also led with nine blocks as Mazza totaled 33 digs and
Olivia Sturgeon added 32 digs.
Samantha Wright led with nine service aces and Sturgeon had seven aces in the five matches.
Rachel Shoemaker totaled 75 assists on the weekend.
The Bulldogs will travel to Eastern Michigan University on Saturday, April 6 for their next tournament.
