COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Adrian College figure skating team traveled to The Ohio State University two weekends ago to compete in the final competition of their qualifying season. Adrian went on to win the competition, with a total of 290 points while picking up 12 first-place finishes. With this win, the Bulldogs earned theirÂ
10th Midwestern Conference title in team history.Trine University finished behind the Bulldogs in 2nd place with 277 points, Michigan State University in 3rd with 217 points, Western Michigan University in 4th with 203.5 points, and event host The Ohio State University in 5th with 197 points.
The Bulldogs earned a team first-place finish in the Intermediate Team event. Adrian added individual first-place finishes in the following events: Dianna Barker in the Novice Solo FD, and Bronze Solo PD, Madison Myers in Intermediate SP, and Novice FS, Lianah Noormohamed in Pre-Juvenile FS Group A, Emily Feldman in Juvenile SP Group B, Emma LaVelle in Juvenile FS Group A, and Juvenile Solo FD Group A, and Sophomore Kendra Shoupmaking her debut and winning Intermediate Solo FD Group A. Kara Curtin tied for first place in Preliminary FS Group A and Freshman Lena Hales tied for first place and made her competitive debut in Pre-Juvenile FS Group B.Â
The following Bulldogs added podium finishes in the following events, earning top points towards the team total: Senior Caraline Herman made her individual debut earning 2nd place in Pre-Juvenile FS Group A, along with Noormohamed finishing 2nd in Preliminary Solo PD Group B and 3rd place in Juvenile Solo FD B. Miranda Suttonfinished 2nd in Senior SP Group C. Carina Cooper finished 3rd in Senior SP Group B and Excel Senior FS. Halesclimbed onto the podium with 3rd place in Preliminary Solo PD Group A. Feldman earned 2nd place in Juvenile FS Group B. Trinity Reagan finished 2nd in Intermediate Solo FD B. Captain Megan Westphal skated a beautiful performance and earned a 2nd place finish in Novice FS.Â
The top-three points contributors for the Bulldogs were Noormohamed with 30 points, Barker, Myers, and LaVelletied with 24 points apiece, and Feldman with 23 points.
Adrian's final event this season will be at the 2024 National Intercollegiate Final, located in Lake Placid, New York, where there will be a celebration for the 25th anniversary of intercollegiate skating. Trine University, Western Michigan University, and Michigan State will accompany the Bulldogs to the National Final after finishing in the top 4 in the Midwestern Conference. Twentynine schools competed in the Midwestern Conference this season.Â
