ALBION, Mich. - The Adrian College men's wrestling program put together a strong showing at the Albion Invite, with the NCAA squad earning a sixth-place team finish with 80.5 points, and the NCWA group placing 12th with 11.5 points.
In the 125-pound division, Maxwell Mader led the Bulldogs with an eighth-place finish, going 1-3 on the day. At 141, four wrestlers took the mat, highlighted by Blaise Kokkales, who finished 1-2. The 149-pound group had a busy day as well—Austin Seta went 1-2 and contributed 2.5 team points, while Brody Chase posted an impressive seventh-place finish with a 4-2 record, earning all four of his wins by pinfall. Dino Catalano added a 1-2 performance to the group's effort.
At 157, Connor Doughty went 2-3 with wins by fall and forfeit, and Olen Moshier secured seventh place with a strong 3-2 showing, including two pinfall victories. In the 165-pound division, Paul Hostetler battled his way to fifth place with a 4-2 record and wins by fall and tech fall.
The Bulldogs earned another podium finish at 174 pounds, where Calob Heilman placed third with a 4-1 effort, collecting three decision wins and a pinfall. Angelo Mastroianni added a seventh-place finish with a 2-2 record.
In the heavyweight division, Scott Smith turned in a standout performance, finishing as the runner-up with an 18-point contribution and a 3-1 record that included wins by decision and pin. Dallas Smith added a 1-2 mark, while Hamza Rafferty delivered a strong sixth-place finish, going 4-2 with two pins and a decision for 12.5 team points.
For the NCWA squad, seven wrestlers competed, highlighted by Johnathan Shannon, who took sixth place with a 1-3 performance.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, November 22 where they will compete in the Concordia University Wisconsin Open. The opening match is scheduled for 9:00 AM. The NCWA Wrestling team will be back in action on Friday, December 5 where they will compete in the GVSU Scramble at 10:00 AM.
