ADRIAN, MICH. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team hosted The University of Olivet on Thursday for senior night inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
Kicking off the dual at 125 pounds, senior
Adrian Rosas fought hard but fell by major decision, 10-2. Senior
Tyler Davis answered back in dominant fashion at 133, securing a tech fall to give Adrian a 5-4 lead after two bouts.
At 141, senior Mack Baird fell by major decision, allowing the Comets to regain the advantage. Senior
Sampson Ross put up a strong fight at 149 but came up short in a close 4-1 decision. Junior
Aiden Smith provided a spark for the Bulldogs at 157, securing a tech fall in the first period to regain momentum.
The back-and-forth battle continued as senior
Zachary Platte dropped a heartbreaking sudden victory decision at 165. In the 174-pound matchup, junior
Spencer Vos fell by major decision before senior
Blake Williams responded with a tech fall at 184, keeping Adrian in the fight.
In the final two bouts, sophomore
Daxton Looney wrestled hard at 197 but fell by decision, and senior
Blake Daniels wrapped up the night in the 285 division, also falling by decision.
Despite the effort, the Bulldogs came up just short, as Olivet edged out a 24-15 dual victory.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, February 15 where they will travel to the annual Mid-State Conference where the first match is set for 10:00 AM.
