LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team suffered an unfortunate loss to the University of Minnesota-Crookston on Friday at the Central Regional Tournament, falling 5-2 in round one of the qualifying tournament, ending the team's 2024-25 season.
Adrian traveled to Wisconsin as the No. 11 seed in the Central Region, with hopes of winning three games in three days to qualify for the Men's Division 2 National Championship Tournament next month. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that run fell short to the No. 10 Minnesota-Crookston squad.
After going down 4-0 midway through the game, the Bulldogs battled hard to generate a comeback as
Willie McGuire put Adrian on the board late in the second period. UM-Crookston put one more past Adrian tender,
Alexander Herman, in the final frame before
Bazl Cook added another for Adrian to bring the score to a 5-2 margin. A late push from the Bulldogs fell short though, as Crookston held on to advance to round two and send Adrian home. Herman was busy on Friday, making 44 saves on 49 shots faced for his team.
A strong season for the Bulldogs, which saw them finish 18-8-1 and qualify for the regional tournament for the third straight season, comes to an early halt. The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team will now prepare for the 2025-26 season, beginning in September.
