NCHA Slaats Cup Semifinal Preview: Women's Hockey to Host Concordia Wisconsin

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team is preparing for the NCHA Slaats Cup Semifinals, set to take place at home on Saturday, March 1. The Bulldogs will host Concordia Wisconsin at 3:00 PM, with the winner advancing to the Slaats Cup Finals. Earlier this season, Adrian and Concordia Wisconsin split their matchups at the Arrington Ice Arena, with the Falcons winning the first game 1-0, before the Bulldogs came back for a 3-2 overtime victory in the second game.

The Bulldogs currently sit at 22-3-2 on the season and 15-1-2 in conference play. As the No. 2 seed for the Slaats Cup Tournament, they defeated No. 7 Trine University in the two-game quarterfinals, with dominant wins of 7-0 and 12-1.

This season, Adrian has been an offensive powerhouse, averaging 6.0 goals per game while allowing only 0.9. Their 6.0 goals per game rank No. 2 in the country, and they lead the nation in goals (162), points (422), and scoring margin (5.07). Additionally, Adrian ranks second in shutouts and power play goals, with the third-best power play percentage in the country.

Riley Johnson leads the Bulldogs with 44 points, recording 19 goals and 25 assists. She is followed closely by Courtney Ben, who has 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 points. On defense, Maya Roy leads with 40 points, including a team-high 33 assists. Roy's 33 assists are just one shy of tying the program record for the most assists in a single season.

In net, Annie Gilbert continues to be a force for the Bulldogs. She holds a 1.01 goals-against average, a .938 save percentage, and a record of 16-3-2, with five shutouts.

The NCHA also announced its end-of-season conference awards on Thursday afternoon, with Adrian earning four All-Conference selections: Courtney Ben, Riley Johnson, Maya Roy, and Kathryn Truban. Additionally, Emma Simon was named Co-Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

Concordia Wisconsin enters Saturday's game with a 20-6-1 record and earned the No. 3 seed for the Slaats Cup Playoffs with a 13-4-1 conference record. The Falcons come into the matchup on a four-game winning streak, having defeated Marian University to close out the regular season and win in the Slaats Cup Quarterfinals.
