ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College ACHA Men's Division 1 hockey team hosted Northwood University for a two-game series at Arrington Ice Arena, coming away with a weekend sweep thanks to 5-2 and 3-0 victories.
In Thursday night's opener, the Bulldogs fell behind early but responded quickly with a shorthanded goal from Keegan DeCaluwe. Matteo Turrin added a power-play goal to give Adrian a 2-1 lead after the first period. Sebastian Smith extended the lead to 3-1 with a second-period tally, and third-period goals from Justin Jamer and Cash Regan made it 5-1 before Northwood added a late goal in the final minute.
On Friday night, Adrian controlled the game from start to finish. Eli Reimer opened the scoring in the first period, followed by another goal from DeCaluwe. In the second, Dylan Gajewski capitalized on the power play to push the lead to 3-0, which held as the final score.
Goaltender Peyton Trzaska started both games for the Bulldogs, stopping a combined 56 shots with 26 on Thursday and 30 on Friday, earning a shutout in the series finale.
The MD1 Bulldogs return to action next week at home on October 3-4 for a weekend series against the University of Pittsburgh. Friday's game is scheduled for 7:05 PM, with Saturday's puck drop set for 1:05 PM.
