Men’s Wrestling Struggle on the Road at Albion College

ALBION, Mich. - The Adrian College men's wrestling team traveled to Albion College for an MIAA dual on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs battled throughout the lineup but ultimately fell 31-14 in their third conference dual of the season.

Adrian got off to a strong start at 125 pounds as Jordan Ovalle earned a win via injury default, giving the Bulldogs an early advantage. Adrian Rosas moved up a weight to compete at 133 and secured a decision victory to extend the lead. Albion answered at 141, as Cole Riedel battled but came up short, putting the Britons on the board.

At 149, Landyn Crance put forth a strong effort but dropped a close decision. Albion continued to build momentum with a win at 157. The Bulldogs responded at 165, where Aiden Smith dominated his opponent and picked up a technical fall to add valuable team points.

Albion regained control with a victory at 174, and at 184 Spencer Vos competed for the black and gold but was unable to slow the Britons' push. Benjamin Grenesko took the mat at 197 but fell, giving Albion a 28-14 lead heading into the heavyweight bout. At 285, Scott Smith fought to the final whistle but dropped a decision, sealing the 31-14 result in favor of Albion.

Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, February 1 where they will travel to the annual Whizzer Open. The tournament  is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
