DEARBORN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's wrestling team competed at the Whizzer Open on Sunday, hosted by Henry Ford Community College. While no team scores were recorded, the Bulldogs showcased their young talent, highlighted by strong performances from several freshmen and sophomores.
Jordan Ovalle placed fourth in the 125-pound bracket. He opened the tournament with a win by fall and later added a 12–7 decision victory in the consolation semifinals. Kenneth Thomas finished 2–2 in the 141-pound bracket. After dropping his opening bout, Thomas responded with back-to-back decision wins by scores of 9–5 and 7–2.
Austin Seta also earned a fourth-place finish in the 149-pound bracket. Seta won his first two matches by fall before securing a 12–8 decision in the consolation semifinals to earn his third victory of the day. Olen Moshier picked up three wins in the 157-pound bracket, with all three victories coming by fall. Paden Gordinier rounded out the Bulldogs' notable performances at 165 pounds, earning two wins with a 4–2 decision and a 14–3 major decision.
The Bulldogs will return to the mat on Thursday, February 12, when they travel to face the University of Olivet in an MIAA conference dual beginning at 7 p.m.
