NCAA Regional Preview: Baseball Begins NCAA Tournament on Friday at Nicolay Field

ADRIAN, Mich. – The NCAA Division III Baseball Regionals return to Nicolay Field as the Adrian College Baseball team serves as host in 2026. Adrian sits as the No. 17 ranked team in the NPI Rankings which locks up a No. 2 seed for the Regional. Adrian will host No. 1 seeded Wittenberg University, No. 3 seeded DePauw University, and No. 4 seeded Webster University.
 
The Bulldogs sit with a 31-10 record on the season after winning the MIAA Regular Season and MIAA Tournament. Adrian claimed seven All-MIAA Selections including Ambrose Horwath, Brendan Willadsen, Jack Boike, Rolando Jimenez, and Nic Bruder on First Team, and Parker Faris and Gabe Jones on Second Team. Head coach Craig Rainey earned the MIAA Coach of the Year Award for the third consecutive season.
 
At the plate, Adrian is hitting .317 as a team in 41 games with 353 runs scored, 95 doubles, 12 triples, and 35 home runs. Jimenez leads the team with a .380 average followed by Jaxon McGuigan at .358, Willadsen at .353, Boike at .338, Jones at .329, and Bruder at .313. Jones leads the team with 43 RBIs on the season while McGuigan has smashed 10 home runs.
 
The Bulldogs have been led on the mound by three starters with ERAs of under 3.00. Landon Kozlowski leads Adrian with a 1.93 ERA in 46.2 innings followed by a 2.27 ERA from Faris in 47.2 innings, and a 2.76 ERA from Horwath in 62.0 innings pitched. Faris has led the Bulldogs with 42 strikeouts this season while opposing hitters are hitting just .185 against him.
 
Adrian's defense has been stellar this season ranking sixth in NCAA Division III with a .976 fielding percentage totaling 35 errors in 1,450 total chances.
 
Adrian's Regional will be a tough one with No. 1 Wittenberg leading the country in batting average with the team hitting .387. DePauw holds a team batting average of .304 while Webster is hitting .321. Adrian's 4.75 team ERA leads the four teams in the region followed by Webster at 5.10, Wittenberg at 5.11, and DePauw at 5.78.
 
The 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Regionals marks the 18th appearance to the National Tournament in the history of Adrian College baseball. The 18 appearances all happened with Rainey at the helm of the Bulldogs, and ranks 10th in most appearances in Division III.
 
The Regional round will run May 15-17 at Nicolay Field with a 4-team double-elimination bracket. No. 1 Wittenberg will face No. 4 Webster on Friday at 11AM followed by No. 2 Adrian vs. No. 3 DePauw at 2:30PM. Two teams will be eliminated after three games on Saturday leaving two teams to face off for the Regional Championship on Sunday. The first game of each day will begin at 11AM. The winner of the Adrian Regional will advance to the NCAA DIII Super Regionals and take on the winner of the UW-Whitewater Regional.
