ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team returns to the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend for the second time in program history. This time, the Bulldogs will host the best-of-three Super Regional series at Nicolay Field on May 22-23. No. 17 Adrian College will face No. 31 Bethany Lutheran College.
The Bulldogs are coming off a Regional Championship on their home field after dropping their opening game to DePauw University before battling back through the consolation bracket with wins over Wittenberg University and Webster University. On Sunday, Adrian swept DePauw in a pair of games to secure the Regional title and keep its season alive.
Bethany Lutheran claimed the NCAA Regional Championship hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Vikings opened the tournament with a win over Luther College before defeating No. 3 UW-Whitewater in both the winner's bracket and the Regional Championship game, with the title game going into extra innings.
At the plate, Adrian is led by
Rolando Jimenez, who owns a team-best .387 batting average in 43 games played.
Jaxon McGuigan is batting .341, followed by
Jack Boike at .340,
Brendan Willadsen at .331, and
Gabe Jones at .328. Jones leads the Bulldogs with 45 RBIs and 18 doubles, while
Jake Burns has a team-high 10 home runs.
On the mound, Adrian features several strong starting options.
Landon Kozlowski leads the pitching staff with a 2.09 ERA in 51.2 innings pitched and 34 strikeouts.
Ambrose Horwath has posted a 2.61 ERA in 69.0 innings with 38 strikeouts, while
Parker Faris owns a 3.44 ERA in 52.1 innings with 44 strikeouts. During the Regional round,
Sean Parker delivered a standout performance, allowing just two runs across 11 innings while throwing 155 pitches over the weekend.
Lincoln Lipinski also excelled in relief, striking out six batters in 3.1 innings over two appearances.
Bethany Lutheran brings a powerful offense into the Super Regional, featuring three hitters batting above .390, led by Yunior Pena Torres at .413. The Vikings have two players with more than 10 home runs this season and have totaled 54 home runs as a team. Bethany Lutheran is hitting .338 as a team with a .545 slugging percentage and 113 stolen bases. On the mound, the Vikings are led by Aidan Byrd, who owns a 3.07 ERA in 10 starts spanning 58.2 innings. Byrd has struck out 62 batters while holding opposing hitters to a .204 batting average.
The Super Regional matchup between Adrian College and Bethany Lutheran marks the first meeting in program history between the two schools. The winner of the best-of-three series will advance to the NCAA Division III World Series as one of the final eight teams remaining. The Bulldogs are seeking their third trip to the Division III World Series and their first appearance since 2021.
The series begins with Game 1 on Friday, May 22, at 12:00 p.m. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m., with Game 3, if necessary, to follow later that day.
