Flying Dutch Upend Adrian, 75-54

ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's basketball squad fell 75-54 to top-ranked Hope College on Wednesday night. Anita Stamps paced the Bulldogs with 13 points. Stamps was 4-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-10 at the foul line off the bench in 22 minutes. Stamps also had four rebounds and three assists. Kim Olech had a solid game down low for the Bulldogs going 5-of-6 good for 10 points and also had eight boards in 23 minutes. Adrian drops to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA while Hope is now 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the league.

Adrian hung tough in the early stages even building an 11-8 lead at the 13:42 mark on a layup by Olech. Hope responded with a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 22-11 lead at the 8:28 mark on a Julie Henderson layup. Adrian trimmed the lead down to seven points on three occasions with the latest coming with 58 seconds left in the half at 32-25. Hope scored the final four points of the half to lead 36-25 at the break. Hope was 14-of-28 from the field and 8-of-16 at the foul line in the opening 20 minutes. Adrian was 9-of-27 shooting and 5-of-8 at the charity stripe.

Hope pushed their lead to 49-29 after starting the second half on a 13-4 run at the 15:05 mark. Adrian never could quite make a serious run for the remainder of the contest cutting the advantage down to 17 on a couple of occasions. Adrian shot 35.7 percent in the final half and finished the game going 19-of-55 (.345). Hope was just 9-of-26 (.346) from the floor in the second half but did go 20-of-25 from the foul line. Hope ended the game going 28-of-41 at the stripe while Adrian was 13-of-20. Ashley McClarren entered the game as the second-leading scorer for Adrian but was held scoreless on 0-of-2 from both the field and line. Reigning MIAA Player of the Week Jennifer Perrin was held in check with four points on 1-of-5 shooting.
