Slow Start Leads to 15-7 Loss at Kenyon College

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Adrian men's lacrosse team went through a slow start at Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon falling behind 5-0 before eventually dropping a 15-7 decision to the Lords. The Bulldogs got a great individual effort from Jeff Ivey who scored a season-high four goals and led the team with nine shots.

Ivey got Adrian on the board with 12:49 left in the second period on an assist from Ryan Knautz making it 5-1. Ivey scored again with 7:23 left in the second with an assist from Josh Maluta to make it 5-2. Kenyon scored the next two goals to stretch their lead to 7-2 with 6:20 left in the opening half. Knautz scored just nine seconds later unassisted for his 11th goal of the season to cut the lead to 7-3. Kenyon put the game out of reach by scoring the next six goals spanning the rest of the second and beginning of the third period. Ivey broke the scoring run with his third goal of the game with 2:44 left in the third unassisted to make it 13-4.

Ivey's fourth goal of the day came with 10 seconds to go in the third again unassisted to make the margin 13-5 at the end of three periods. Each team scored twice in the final 15 minutes as Matt Gregson (5:13) and Camerin Staffel (1:49) rounded out the scoring for Adrian which slipped to 1-3 overall while the Lords improved to 3-1.

Eric Lindstrom played all 60 minutes in goal and made 10 saves. Kenyon registered 45 shots while the Bulldogs recorded 33 shots against three different goalies for Kenyon. Kenyon had a 42-41 edge in ground balls and were 3-for-6 in the man advantage compared to 1-for-4 for Adrian.
