Stats

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Ohio Wesleyan offense was firing on all cylinders on Tuesday as the Battling Bishops handed the Adrian College men's lacrosse team a tough 26-10 loss.

After a Battling Bishop goal at 13:41, the Adrian offense wasted little time responding as Jeff Ivey tied the game up at 1-1 just 19 seconds later. Ryan Knautz added his first goal of the game less than two minutes later to give the Bulldogs an early 2-1 lead. The Battling Bishops knotted the game at 2-2 with 8:21 left in the first quarter. Knautz responded again for the Bulldogs to give AC the 3-2 lead with 7:05 remaining before the break.

The 3-2 advantage would be the last time the Bulldogs held the lead in the contest as the Battling Bishops scored 10 straight goals over the next 11:42 of game time to take a commanding 12-3 lead with OWU's Rob Young netting five of the ten goals. Jeff Ivey stopped the Battling Bishops' scoring run by notching his second goal of the game with 8:32 left on the clock in the second quarter. Matt Gregson also added a goal for the Bulldogs in the second quarter, but midway through the game, the Battling Bishops held the 15-5 lead.

OWU's offense picked up where they had left off after the halftime break by outscoring the Bulldogs 11-5 over the final two quarters of play. Camerin Staffel, Josh Maluta, Sam Alden, Ivey, and Gregson each netted a goal in the second half of play to help pace the Adrian offense.

Eric Lindstrom took the tough loss in goal while making eight saves.

The Bulldogs (1-4) will now look to regain momentum in their next contest as they take on the Fontbonne University Griffins in St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday, March 30.
