Overtime Thriller Goes to the 'Dogs at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio - The men's lacrosse squad won for the fourth straight time on Wednesday at Oberlin College with a thrilling 15-14 overtime triumph which kept Oberlin winless on the season (0-7). The Bulldogs got on the board early as Jeff Ivey scored the first two goals in the first 4:25 to give Adrian a 2-0 lead. Oberlin scored the next two goals including a man-up tally by Nick Sherman unassisted with 4:31 left in the first. Adrian scored the final two goals of the first as Ryan Knautz scored a man-up goal with 47 seconds left and Ivey notched a hat trick with two seconds left with an assist from Camerin Staffel.

The second period featured a game-high 10 goals as Adrian and Oberlin each scored five times. Ivey added two more goals before intermission and Nick DeGroot scored the eighth goal for Adrian with an assist from Fil Choulramountry. Adrian kept their two-goal lead after the third period, 12-10, as Tony Schrank, Josh Maluta and Ivey all tallied goals in the period.

Adrian led 14-11 with 5:41 left in the game after Ivey's eighth score but Oberlin sent the game into overtime with three goals in the final 2:32 including the game-tying goal by Erik Strand with 1:16 to play in regulation. It took Adrian just 41 seconds to end things as Schrank took a pass from Maluta and buried the game-winning goal.

Adrian outshot Oberlin, 51-43, as Ivey recorded 16 shots and scored on half of them to lead the offense. Staffel had three assists and nine shots. Eric Lindstrom played the entire game in goal and made a season-high 21 saves including 13 in the second half. Adrian is now 5-6 overall.
