The Adrian men's lacrosse team dropped to 1-6 overall in their inaugural season with a 14-8 loss to the College of Wooster on Wednesday night. Wooster (6-1) jumped out to a 6-1 lead with 8:05 left in the second quarter. Matt Pullara scored twice in that span for Wooster netting his first goal with 5:05 left in the first quarter and his second with 13:24 left in the second quarter.
Adrian responded with three straight goals to pull within 6-4 with 13:24 left in the third quarter. Ryan Knautz scored the first three goals of the game for Adrian including his second with 4:42 left in the first half and his third with 45 seconds left until halftime. Jeff Ivey notched the first of his two goals early in the third unassisted to pull the Bulldogs within two goals.
Wooster and Adrian swapped two goals apiece making it 8-6 with 7:37 remaining in the third period which featured a total of 11 goals. The other three periods had 11 goals combined. Conor Hannan scored his second goal of the game just 13 seconds after Ivey's second goal of the half to make it 9-6. Tony Schrank tallied his third goal of the season with 6:14 left in the third to once again make it a two-goal game.
Wooster then pushed the pace and scored five straight times to pull away from the Bulldogs. Mark Weschler scored three of the five goals and Hannan notched the other two in a span of 6:34 building the lead to 14-7. Knautz tallied his fourth goal of the game and 19th of the season with 2:10 left for the final six-goal margin of defeat.
Adrian goalie Eric Lindstrom made 14 saves in net with seven saves coming in each half. Wooster had a 44-32 advantage in total shots with a 28-18 edge in shots on goal. Wooster was 1-of-4 in the extra man opportunities while Adrian was 0-of-2.
