SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -
Trailing 9-6 after the end of the third quarter, the Adrian College men's lacrosse team staged a strong comeback and kept the Wittenberg University Tigers scoreless in the fourth quarter to claim a win in Ohio on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs came out ready to play against the Tigers in the mid-week contest. After the completion of the first quarter, Adrian held the 3-2 lead courtesy of two goals by Ryan Knautz and a goal by Tony Schrank.
Over the course of the middle two frames, however, the Tigers were the team with the upper hand as they went on a 7-3 scoring run during the middle 30 minutes of play. Camerin Staffel, Matt Gregson, and Jeff Ivey each scored for the Bulldogs to keep the team in the game.
The difference-maker in the game would be the Bulldogs' Ryan Knautz. The freshman attacker took the game into his own hands in the final quarter of the game by scoring four of the Bulldogs' five goals in the decisive 15 minutes. Sam Alden added Adrian's other goal in the quarter to lift the Bulldogs to the 11-9 victory.
Eric Lindstrom played a solid game in goal for the Bulldogs as he made 20 saves while playing the entire 60 minutes to pick up the win.
The Adrian College men's lacrosse team will next take to the field on April 13 when they play host to Hendrix College for a 1:00 p.m. contest at the Adrian College Multisport Performance Stadium.
