The Adrian College women's basketball team played great defense to earn a 71-59 victory over Waynesburg University on Friday night. Adrian will play in the championship game of the Tip-Off Tournament tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. against Defiance College.
Adrian trailed Waynesburg 41-32 at the half. Jennifer Perrin and Anita Stamps provided the offense for Adrian by scoring 20 of Adrian's 32 points through the first 20 minutes of action. The Bulldogs shot 26 percent from the floor in the first half compared to 46 percent from Waynesburg.
The Bulldogs made some adjustments at halftime to shut down the Yellow Jackets offense. Adrian held Waynesburg to 18 points in the second half. The Jackets only made four of their 32 shots allowing Adrian to make a comeback.
Perrin ended the game with a game-high 22 points and five rebounds. She was two of three from downtown, and went 12-16 from the charity stripe.
Stamps and Elysia Norris each added double digit scoring for AC. Stamps scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds while Norris added 13. Ashley McClarren impacted the team by grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
Elisha Jones was the leading scorer for Waynesburg. Jones put up 20 points and four rebounds.
