WOOSTER, Ohio -
The men's lacrosse team dipped to 5-4 overall on Thursday with a 10-9 loss at the College of Wooster despite outscoring the hosts, 5-2, in the final quarter. The Bulldogs trailed 8-4 after 45 minutes of action and really put the pressure on Wooster in the final 15 minutes.
David Monroe scored back-to-back goals with his second coming at 14:48 of the fourth to cut the lead down to 8-5. Ryan Knautz scored the first of his three fourth-quarter goals at 13:53 with an assist from Monroe on the man-up advantage to decrease the lead to two. Wooster scored the next two goals to regain a four-goal cushion as Tim Lee and Pat Coyne scored at even standing at 9:18 and 3:56.
Adrian made their final push as Knautz scored at 3:32 and 3:09 to cut the lead to 10-8. Eric Hubert got Adrian within one at 1:28 unassisted and Wooster held off the Bulldogs after they won the ensuing faceoff and marched downfield. AC could not get a quality shot off and Wooster ran out the clock.
College of Wooster outshot Adrian, 36-24, including a 11-4 edge in the third. Adrian made nine saves in net as Pat Gaeger went all 60 minutes. Jeff Ivey scored twice for the black and gold. AC won 14-of-22 faceoffs and were 1-of-4 in extra-man opportunities.
