Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – It was a game of highs and lows for the Adrian College women's basketball team on Wednesday as they fell to the visiting Ohio Northern 70-43. With the loss, the Bulldogs slip to 1-7 on the year.
The Polar Bears started the game on a 10-0 run before the Bulldogs were finally able to find the bottom of the net at the 16:13 mark with a three-pointer by sophomore Katie Ross (Clawson, Mich./Clawson). Ohio Northern would continue the half on a 22-11 run, leading 32-14 at the half.
Adrian came out of the locker room fired up and started the second half on a 15-6 run cutting the lead to 11. The Bulldogs would go on the miss their next five shots and allow Ohio Northern to push their lead to 21. Adrian was unable to get a rally going as the Polar Bears maintained Adrian's pace and took the victory. The Bulldogs had their best game of the season from behind the arc, making a season-high eight three-pointers. The Bulldogs also committed a season-low 13 turnovers. However, on the other side the Bulldogs shot a season-low 38.5% from the free throw line.
Leading the Bulldogs was Ross with nine points, all from behind the arc. Freshman LaQwana Dockery (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) scored a season-high eight points while pulling down three rebounds. Fellow freshman Justice Gwin (Cambridge City, Ind./Connersville) scored her first points of the season, netting all six on three-pointers. Junior Jenn Headley (Hicksville, Ohio/Hicksville) led the team with six rebounds while adding in four points. Adrian's leading scorer, junior Kellee Wonders (Pittsford, Mich./Hudson), was held to a season-low four points while grabbing five boards.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound as they host non-conference opponent Anderson (Ind.) on Saturday, December 18 starting at 3:00 p.m.
