GAMBIER, Ohio -
The Adrian College men's lacrosse team tasted defeat for the first time this season with an 11-9 loss to Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs grabbed a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. Kenyon scored early in the half to take the lead, but Adrian scored back-to-back goals midway through the quarter to go up 2-1. Ryan Knautz scored the first goal for AC and Scott Krystiniak gave them the go ahead goal. Max Olson tied the game for Kenyon, but Josh Maluta scored for Adrian with under a minute to play, giving Adrian a 3-2 advantage after the first fifteen minutes of action. Kenyon had a great second quarter and scored three goals to take a 5-3 lead. Krystinaik scored with 37 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 5-4 at halftime.
Kenyon outscored Adrian again in the third quarter 3-2. Maluta and David Monroe scored for Adrian, but the Bulldogs faced an 8-6 deficit going into the fourth quarter. Monroe cut the lead to one early in the fourth, but Kenyon answered to regain the lead. Each team would score three goals in the final fifteen minutes of play giving Kenyon the 11-9 win. Pat Gaeger made 10 saves as the goaltender for Adrian.
