The baseball team completed a weekend series sweep of Olivet with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon. AC won 8-4 in game one and followed with a 14-0 win in game two.
Adrian (15-7, 10-2) hit .410 during the four-game series against the Comets and outscored them 44-8. The Bulldogs posted a 2.57 ERA while Olivet's ERA was 11.77. Andrew Geese (1-1) and David Partyka (4-0) got the pitching wins for the Bulldogs on Saturday. Geese went five innings in game one and allowed four hits and two earned runs. He threw 74 pitches and walked two with four strikeouts. Partyka had a complete-game shutout in game two going the distance allowing six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 3.41.
The Bulldogs had seven extra base hits in game one with four doubles and three home runs. Steve Vanderheyden had a pair of two-baggers in three at-bats with a run scored. He hit .667 (8-for-12) against Olivet this week. Alex Cowart had a double and home run and was also hit by a pitch. He recorded a pair of RBI's and his home run was the sixth of the season and 16th of his career. Andrew Anderson and Jason Greer also homered for Adrian.
The Bulldogs scored at least one run in their first five at-bats in game two with a five-run second inning and four-run fourth inning. Adrian had 14 hits in the nightcap including five extra base hits. Nate Sarkissian had a double and homer in three at-bats with three RBI's. He had his third long ball and fourth double of the season. Brian Bilius also hit a three-run homer and was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI's.
