OLIVET, Mich. - The Adrian College baseball team continued its dominance of Olivet College on Saturday with a sweep of the Comets by the scores of 9-0 and 11-1. Last night, the Bulldogs defeated Olivet, 6-0 and 5-0, at Nicolay Field. Adrian has now won 23 straight games against their MIAA rival.
The top of the batting order did the most damage in game one. Chris Kerekes got a chance in the leadoff spot and responded with a 2-for-3 game with a walk and run scored. Cody Meyer hit in the two-hole and went 2-for-4 with a run. Brian Bilius collected three hits in four at-bats including his second homer of the season. He had two runs scored and two RBI's. Nate Sarkissian went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI's. Sarkissian hit his first homer of the season which was a two-run shot in the fourth.
Jason Fryman went the distance on the mound and improved to 3-0 this season. He allowed three hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Adrian pounded out 14 hits off three Comet hurlers. Brad Beisiegel got the start and allowed seven earned runs in three innings.
Adrian continued the hot bats in game two with 11 runs and 13 hits. Adrian led 3-1 after five innings and then exploded for third runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to blow the game open. Josh Burd (4-1) went five innings and allowed four hits with one earned run. He also walked one and struck out three. Zach Robbins pitched his 12th straight inning with allowing an earned run in the sixth with two strikeouts. Lucas Willitzer pitched in the seventh and struck out one.
Kerekes drove in two in game two again in the leadoff spot. Meyer went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Bilius went 3-for-4 in game two and is hitting .528 in his last 10 games. Andrew DeLuca went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Joe Dubina went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's. Kyle Strawn also had a double in two plate appearance with two RBI's and a walk.
Notes: Adrian has now outscored their opponents, 29-5, in the first inning this season...Adrian is batting .309 as a team with the opponents hitting .234...Bilius has now raised his season average to .385 with his current hot streak.
