Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's lacrosse team came from behind to knock off Kenyon College 10-8. The Bulldogs improve their record to 7-2 on the season.
Kenyon took a one goal lead at halftime as the Lords netted four goals in the second period, including the last goal of the period with just 1:25 left.
The Bulldogs came out firing in the third period as Adrian scored four unanswered goals including one by senior Ryan Knautz (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) with just 45 seconds remaining.
Kenyon quickly countered in the final period as they netted a goal just 14 seconds into the period. The Lords answered with three goals to start to period as they tied the game at eight.
Junior Brad Higgins (Commerce Twp., Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) scored his fifth goal of the season for what would be the game-winner at 7:06 of the fourth period. Senior Josh Maluta (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) scored on a man-up opportunity at 5:28 to end the scoring and seal the Bulldog victory.
Junior Tyler Tanguay (Port Colborne, Ont./Lakeshore Catholic) led Adrian scoring a hat trick and picking up three groundballs. Junior David Monroe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) led the Bulldogs with a game-high three assists. Knautz and freshman Tom Thielman (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) each netted two goals. Maluta netted a goal and two assists while grabbing three groundballs. Sophomore Brandon MacDonald (Midhurst, Ont./Eastview Secondary School) had a game-high five groundballs recovered.
In goal for Adrian freshman Matt Neal (Shelby Twp., Mich./De La Salle) earned the victory while making 10 saves.
Kenyon held a shot advantage over the Bulldogs at 33-to-29. Adrian held a significant margin in groundballs with a 25-to-18 advantage. The Lords had a 15-to-7 advantage in faceoffs. The Bulldogs were nearly perfect in clearing chances as they went 18-for-19 while Kenyon was 11-for-13. Adrian was also 1-for-2 in man-up opportunities while the Lords were 0-for-1.
The Bulldogs will go right back at it was they host MLC opponent Milwaukee School of Engineering on April 10 at 11:00 am.
