Free Throws Key in 66-58 Loss to Wisconsin-Oshkosh

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Free Throw shooting was the key factor for the women's basketball team (3-7) during their second game on Friday at the Las Vegas Hoopla losing 66-58 to Wisconsin-Oshkosh (9-2). The Titans made 26-of-31 (83.9 percent) at the foul line while the Bulldogs went 4-of-8. Katie Kitzke went 10-of-11 for Oshkosh and finished with 25 points going 7-of-15 from the floor as well.

Nicole Boggs made a three-pointer to start the game and then made another one to give Adrian a 6-3 lead early in the contest. After that the Titans went on a 13-2 run to take a 16-8 lead with 9:42 left in the first half. UW-Oshkosh increased their lead to 24-13 with 6:19 left in the opening half after a Heather Conroy jumper.

The Bulldogs trailed 36-27 at intermission as the Titans pounded the ball inside scoring 18 points in the paint. Adrian held an 11-3 edge in bench points during the first 20 minutes. The first points of the second half were scored by Oshkosh and they would hold a double digit lead until the 11:54 mark. Adrian cut the lead down to six at 54-48 after a layup by freshman Angela Broggi. She finished the game with a season-high 12 points and also grabbed five rebounds in 34 minutes. Broggi also went 6-of-9 from the floor and had a season-best three assists.

The Bulldog defense kept them in the game as Oshkosh was stuck on 54 points for six-plus minutes. Adrian further cut into the lead and were down 54-52 with 8:33 left in the contest. Neither team would score for over three minutes until Megan Wenig made a free throw with 4:42 to go to push the lead back up to three.

Broggi's layup got Adrian within one and then after a Conroy bucket, it was Casey Fougerousse scoring with 2:29 left to make it 57-56. The free throw edge in the final minute got the Titans the win. They were 7-of-8 at the line as four different players took a pair of shots each. Fougerousse scored 12 points including three triples but was limited to 24 minutes before fouling out. Boggs added 11 points also making three triples. Adrian shot 8-of-20 (40 percent) from the arc for the contest. LaQwana Dockery chipped in 11 points off the bench in 26 minutes. She also had a career-high five blocks.
