Bulldogs Fall for Just the Second Time in a Men's Lacrosse Home Opener

ADRIAN, Mich.--Kenyon College scored right off the opening face-off to set the tone for a 20-2 non-conference men's lacrosse win over Adrian College in the latter's home opener on Wednesday.

THE BASICS
= Final Score: Kenyon 20, Adrian 2

= Location: Docking Stadium; Adrian, Mich.

= Records: Kenyon Lords 4-1; Adrian Bulldogs 0-4

FOR ADRIAN
= Senior Jake Waldrup got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with 5 minutes and 10 seconds left in the second quarter. He leads the team with 11 goals on the season.

= Freshman Conor Redden started the scoring in the third quarter.

= Sophomore Peter Dugan, a midfielder by trade, made his first appearance in the cage in a reserve role and made three saves.

= Senior Doug Boyd also found the scoresheet with his team leading seventh assist and 13th point.

= Senior starting goalkeeper Brett Farrelly had nine saves to increase his second-conference-leading total to 74.

= Senior Dan Hudson tied for a game-high with five ground balls and had two caused turnovers.

= Junior Cody Schmitt contributed four ground balls and led all players with three caused turnovers. He also won both of his face-off attempts at the "X."

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Kenyon jumped out to a 9-0 lead through 21 minutes, including 11 seconds after the opening face-off.

= The Lords also held advantages in shots (43-28), face-off wins (18-8) and ground balls (48-28).

= After allowing 13 goals in the first half, Adrian held more possession in the second half and cut that number in half for the final 30 minutes.

= Five of Kenyon's goals came via the man-up.

THE OPPOSITION
= Jonah Florence had game highs of four goals and six points.

= Defender Cam Thomas led the team with five ground balls along with Jordan Earlywine and Chris Ferraro (2 goals, 1 assist).

= Robert Jacobs (2 assists) and Alex Lopez also registered a hat trick apiece.

Patrick Shevelson played the first 45 minutes in goal and made 10 saves to earn the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian lost for just the second time in nine home openers.

= Kenyon now leads the all-time series 4-2.

= Adrian continues non-conference action on Saturday when it hosts Messiah College, beginning at 1 p.m.
